Those were the last words the driver heard...as the strong heartbeat continued to pound...ever so slowly, growing in sound...louder and stronger...
Then the serene scene begins to slowly fade away...and we are suddenly back in the dark swirling storm of before...
And the heartbeat continues to grow louder and louder...
And the storm cloud grows ever darker and more violent...
Louder still, the heartbeat gets more erratic...more cacophonic...but still rhythmic, as if hundreds of hearts are beating at once...
So too, the storm grows more violent...a thundrous cloudy mess...
Until finally...amidst all this storm of sight and sound...ever so slowly, the chaotic cloud begins to take shape...and so too, ever so slowly, the now deafening, beating roar begins to sound familiar...
And we start to see this rush of images...fuzzy flashes of what look like hoofs pounding the ground...horns moving up and down, as massive brown shaggy heads plow ahead...steam blasting from black nostrils...powerful grunts and breaths fill the air...as the images grow clearer...ever so slowly...
Until the scene finally focuses on thousands of hoofs stomping the earth with a rolling thunder...these great heads charging forward with the force of a thousand locomotives at full throttle...determined and unstoppable...
It is now clear we are in the midst of a massive stampede... thousands of bison...the biggest herd ever seen by modern eyes charges across this broad grassy plain...kicking tons of dust and dirt into the air...
And the scene slowly pulls away to reveal the overwhelming magnitude of this stampede...flowing like a whirling-wind blowing across the land...
Upon seeing this majestic scene, the driver's eyes get wider as his smile grows brighter...
Then he turns around towards the back seat...
